When I was still living in Lions Park, one day we went for a hike from Sailele to...we didn't really know. We usually like to travel without a plan here on this island.
We walked along the water from Sailele to another village (there's no road between them).
Then we just kept walking and made it all the way to where the end of the main road comes out at Onenoa.
We then decided to walk down the road all the way back to Sailele. At least Doug, Matt, and I did. Naomi thought that was far.
So we walked to Tula, and went to the NOAA observatory... passing up rides along the way. After we got done with the observatory, we'd kind of had enough walking and went to the bus stop. The bus stop is outside of a store in Tula and inside there was a lady working who informed us that the last bus of the day just passed us. Super. So we set out walking
After a little while we were able to hitch a ride in the back of a truck.
Then we got dropped off because that was as far as this car was going and we set out walking again. We flagged down a bus and hopped on that. It WAS far. We just kept riding and riding. It seems that we (the guys at least) have no concept of how far things on the island. After riding forever, we got let off at Fagaitua and figured we would walk over the pass back to Sailele. That also apparently is far. We walked for maybe 15-20 minutes up the steep hill and luckily were picked up by some guys drinking beer in their work truck. I had thought the pass was just around the bend, but it wasn't. It would have taken us forever to get back walking. But, hitching rides was fun and it was a really great day overall.
On the way back we stopped off at our house because we had heard a rumor it was for rent. Naomi ended up talking to Wally (our landlord) and hooked us up with where we live now.
How does Bill Bavasi still have a job? The Ms are HORRENDOUS! Come on, how long can this go on? Get Valentine in here today! and just get somebody else to be GM, anyone except Woody Woodward.
Some brief movie reviews:
Sweeney Todd: too much singing 3.8
Superbad: Really pretty good. I especially like the real-life dialogue. 7.5
Juno: Good, different, funny. 7.5
Jumper: Sam Jackson, but no damn snakes. This movie is stupid: 2
We are Marshall: Not bad, not great, kinda boring. 4.5
North Shore: Have you ever seen this movie? Its from the 80s and surfers just love it. It is sooooo stupid, it is hard to describe. This is a movie that sucks so much you should see it just to see how bad a movie can be and still get made. The most incredible part is if you get the re-release version there are all the commentaries by the actors and the producers. They talk about this movie like it was good and are serious about it. Unlikable main character. Ridiculous bad guys. Dumb, dumb, dumb! I give it a 1.8.

Unnecessary qualifier: "We usually like to travel without a plan here on this island."
